Pierogies, block parties, beer and bleenies. They're all simply part of
growing up in the coal region, according to a Mount Carmel native and
first-time author Mike Breslin. Mike has published "Pass the Pierogies", a
tongue-in-cheek commentary in which he takes lighthearted yet stinging swats
at coal region football, the education system, attending a Catholic school
and other aspects of coal region life. He hopes his book will allow people
who grew up in the coal region to remember their hometown with fondness, and
he hopes today's younger generation can get a full appreciation for where
his crazy stories were cultivated.
