"Ever since I was a little girl I have loved to rhyme, whether reciting chants or jingles while jumping rope, or reading Mother Goose rhymes to my younger brothers and sisters when we were growing up. As a former teacher (1st. grade, Pine Grove Elementary), I firmly believe that the concept of rhyming is an important skill in learning how to read; however, I have discovered over the years that a lot of parents no longer recite and/or read nursery rhymes to their toddlers as I had done with my own children. Some girls and boys enter school without knowing anything about rhymes, and how they can help make reading a lot easier for them.
I have spent a large part of my life with young children as an Elementary teacher. I credit my rewarding experiences in the classroom as well as the subjects I taught in first grade as the inspiration for the poems that I have included in my book.
I truly hope you enjoy reading my poems as much as I have enjoyed writing them."
