About the Author:
For as long as he can remember, Stephen has had a
fascination with the dark side of the human soul. He explores that by writing
thrillers, drawing, hiring illustrators, and -- like the creators of the
original Warren Vampirella Magazine in the 1970s -- hiring a model now and then
to give his characters a bit of verisimilitude.
His personality is a mix of comic and goofy, passionate and
determined, artistic and edgy. He's also somewhat enigmatic, having dedicated so
much of his life to writing about hit men, vicious psychopaths and lost souls.
Ask him why he does it and he'll tell you he simply enjoys it.
He graduated from Point Park College, Pittsburgh, Pa., with
a degree in print journalism in 1992. Since then, he's worked as a reporter for
newspapers in Schuylkill County, Pa. He's currently a staff writer for The
Republican-Herald, Pottsville, Pa.
About the Book:
The thriller follows “Corinn Michaels,” a clever
26-year-old goth from Georgetown who's a graphic artist and Internet terrorist.
She is secretly the Web master for a mercenary who sells hits on line, and she's
running from a society obsessed with finding her, hiring her, using her and
killing her.
When the site is
taken down and its leader reportedly dispatched, Corinn must decide whether to
abandon her beloved project or follow the rhythm of her black heart, risk
everything, load up a .40 caliber pistol and take charge. A series of explosive
events -- including run ins with corrupt government agents and a fiery vigilante
-- poison her mind, break her down, nearly claim her life and lead her to make a
dark decision.
Book reviewer
Sheena Patel of Booktin.com said: “ It plays like a worded graphic novel with
dark turns and darker people with the darkest motives...I think teenagers and
graphic novel fans will love it. It is full of angst and frustrated energy and
the hard and quick dialogue of a comic.”
