There will be 3 weeks of preliminary competition. Contestants can try out in any or all of the preliminary rounds.

   James Yacobacci

   Jim Yacobacci - Phantom

Jim is a graduate of Minersville Area High School, where he began singing at an early age. He was a member of the Penn State University Schuylkill Campus Chorale, the Schuylkill County Community Chorus and the “Singers”.  He has appeared in numerous productions, including Annie, Shenandoah, Cabaret, Anything Goes, An Evening With Rodgers and Hammerstein, and Comedy Tonight.  He played the Phantom in Highlights of the Phantom of the Opera and The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber. He is frequently a guest soloist at area events. He appears on the album I Didn’t Know What Time It Was by jazz vocalist Kim Russell Seibert, was one-half of the singing duo Jim & Diane, and was the lead singer for The New Individuals. For over 5 years, he performed All Shook Up, a three-hour Elvis Presley concert show in full costume.

Jim is a unique talent with an extensive knowledge of Broadway music. We are honored to have him host this year's event.

The Judges
There will be three judges for each round of competition.
Winners of the Semi-Finals and Finals will be determined by a combination of judge and audience votes.
Sharon Angelo

Sally Bair
Sally Bair is proud to be a lifelong resident of Schuylkill County. Her professional life has been dedicated to K-12 public education serving three county schools as a music teacher and technology skills teacher and coordinator. Presently, she is the technology facilitator for the Northern Lebanon School District. In her spare time, Bair enjoys college football and basketball and dabbling in the arts in activities ranging from performer to producer. Sally truly believes that no good deed goes unpunished!
Olwyn Beatty
Olwyn's appreciation of music was fostered by her parents' respect for all aspects of the performing arts. As a child, she studied piano and voice under the tutelage of Marie K. Davis. Olwyn has directed performers from throughout Schuylkill County in the Minersville Theatre Association's productions of Cabaret, Anything Goes, Camelot, Shenandoah, and Annie. Most recently, she appeared as Sister Robert Anne in the Association's production of Nunsense. As a teacher at Minersville Area High School, Olwyn continues to encourage young people to develop their music tastes and talents.
Brian Calderone

John Kozura
John's interest in music began in high school where he played alto saxophone in the band and learned harmonies listening to the Beach Boys.  He had a solo in Minersville's first musical, South Pacific counterposed to Mark Mahal.  Singing karaoke, he and his duet partner took third place in a five-state regional karaoke competition. John has judged numerous karaoke competitions, from local events to the Pennsylvania State Karaoke Championship held in Tunkhannock in 1999. He sings locally for benefits and frequents open mike night at The Lazy Dog.

Event Charge
Competitors:
There is no charge to enter the competition.
Audience: No Charge for Preliminary Competitions
$3 Admission Fee for Finals - Includes a ballot to vote for your favorite finalist.


We strongly suggest Pre-Registration and Advance Table Reservations.
If you complete this form, you must still sign up at the Lazy Dog when you come on Sept 27, Oct 4 and/or Oct 11.
