Lazy Dog Coffeehouse 2nd Annual TOP DOG Karaoke Competition

A statement from the Lazy Dog:

As the votes for the semi-finals were tallied, it quickly became apparent that the majority of people in the audience did not score each contestant fairly. Instead of giving participants a legitimate score based on their performance, too many people chose to give a 10 to their favorite and a 1, 2 or 3 to everyone else.

These skewed results were inconsistent with the integrity and spirit of the Lazy Dog Top Dog  Karaoke Competition, and accepting them would have negated the fair and objective votes of our judges. Rather than throw out the audience votes and proceed to the finals with the top 6 contestants (as was recommended unanimously by our panel of judges) (JNOV), we chose instead to advance everyone to the finals. Consequently, anyone who attended the competition to help his favorite performer get into the finals succeeded. Anyone who voted to hurt any contestant who could pose a threat to his favorite's standing did not succeed. The competition will now return to its performance-based roots.

The Finals will be held on Sunday March 21st at 4pm. Each contestant will perform one new song (i.e. a song they have not performed previously in this competition), and scoring will be by judges vote only.

Our Host

Rick Lorady, with the assistance of his wife Gail, will host our TOP DOG Karaoke competition. In the past ten years they have hosted a number of karaoke competitions, including the Pro-Sing PA State Finals. Rick has years of experience as a competitor, a judge and a host. Gail works behind the scenes making to ensure all the paperwork is correct and in order. Together they will assure you of a fun, fair and honest competition.

The Judges
There will be three judges for each round of the competition.
Winners of the Semi-Finals and Finals will be determined by a combination of judge and audience vote.
