“61 South” is a 3 piece rocking blues band powered by the bluesy sounds of the steel guitar. Though new to the music scene, “61 South’s” members are veterans of the PA/NJ music scene having opened for many major national acts over their 60 plus years of collective musical experience. “61 South” features the swinging, Chicago style blues drumming of John Goba, the rock solid bass foundation of Kate Koch and the fiery steel guitar sounds and rugged vocals of Sterling Koch.
The unique sound of the steel guitar in a blues format is what sets this band apart from other blues bands. This is not your father’s twangy country steel guitar. Far from it. Think Duane Allman, Elmore James and Robert Randolph all rolled into one with as solid a rhythm section as you will find. Playing traditional blues in a contemporary style and featuring music by B.B. King, Muddy Waters, Elmore James, John Lee Hooker and Stevie Ray Vaughan as well as original, “61 South” blues, “61 South” is sure to rock your blues away. $3 music charge
