THE POLSKIE SWINGMASTERS
8:00-11:00 pm
During the 1960's and 1970's, the Polskie Swingmasters
were one of the area's hottest polka bands. They played up to four engagements
each weekend and appeared throughout Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey,
Connecticut, Maryland and Chicago, Illinois.
It was not uncommon to see them playing on Friday night,
then, at a wedding on Saturday afternoon, a dance on Saturday night, and a polka
fest on Sunday afternoon.
During
their time together, the "Swings" (as their fans called them) recorded three
successful polka albums - "Good Living Polkas", "Out All Night", and "Polka
Jukebox". Many polka fans remember "Mommy's Homemade Chicken Soup", "You're
Driving Me Crazy", "Old Blue Jeans" and "We've Got It All Together" polkas as
performed by the Swingmasters.
Now, after close to 30 years, the band has reunited. Original members, Steve
Brill, Jack Belovesick and Carl Simchena, have decided to play a limited number
of engagements. In addition to their live performances, the band will also be
releasing a new CD in the near future.
