ROCKET 88
Rocket 88 is a band from Oaks, PA made up of two
sets of brothers: the Lawrences and the Ellisons. Since forming about 3 years
ago they have been devoted to playing classic rock staples by The Who, The
Allman Brothers, the Grateful Dead, the Beatles and others. Recently they've
began writing some material of their own in the same vein.
The name Rocket 88 comes from the 1949 Oldsmobile “Rocket 88”, and from
the 1951 Ike Turner song ("Rocket 88") about the car that is often credited as
the first rock and roll song.
Although still relatively new on the music scene, the foursome showcases some
promising talent. If you enjoy early British Rock 'n Roll, you'll enjoy Rocket
88!
